Ana Marshall

Ana Marshall, CFA, brings 36 years of investment experience as an investor and allocator to her role as Vice President & Chief Investment Officer for the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation’s $13 billion portfolio. Ana has served on Hewlett’s investment team for 18 years and as CIO for the past 11 years. She is responsible for asset allocation, investment strategy, portfolio construction, and risk management. Prior to becoming CIO, Ana led the selection and oversight of external managers in global equities, distress/credit, fixed income, and hedged strategies since joining the foundation in 2004.

Prior to her role at Hewlett, Ana spent 18 years as an investor. Her portfolio manager responsibilities spanned global and emerging market equities, as well as distress/credit and emerging market debt at RCM Capital Management, Bank of America, and Caywood-Scholl Capital Management.

Ana graduated Magna Cum Laude from University of San Diego in Economics and earned her Chartered Financial Analyst. She was born and raised in Mexico and is fluent in Spanish. She serves as a Board Trustee of the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), an advisor to PIMCO, as well as on the Investment Committee of the Skoll Foundation. She previously served as an advisor to Bayshore Global and the U.S. Soccer Federation. Ana teaches asset allocation and portfolio management at Stanford Graduate School of Business and is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
